Old-World European Family Room

Project Overview:

Overdue for a makeover, these clients wanted an update to their 2-story family room to equal their recently renovated adjacent kitchen. This is a main entertaining and TV watching space so plenty of comfy seating in performance fabrics was a must. The neutral white, grey, and soft blue pallette from the kitchen transferred into the family room, starting with an off-white greek key patterned wool rug. A pair of neutral sofas, a round blue upholstered cocktail ottoman, and two carved wood frame chairs with a dynamic old-world pattern make up the seating area. The fireplace and built-in wall were completely transformed with textured stone look wallpaper, a new cast stone mantel, and built-ins painted in a soft grey. The 2-story arched window deserved long, beautiful drapery panels to frame the view outside. An embroidered vine patterned fabric of beige, blue, orange, and soft red made the panels, hung from chunky iron hardware. The entire room and the old-world European look were finished with rustic end tables, blue ceramic lamps, gondola art, rustic wall plates, and the perfect accessories.
