Q: Where are you located?

A: Our Studio is located in the Lyndon area at 8003 Vine Crest Avenue, Suite #3, Louisville, KY 40222.

Q: Do I have to take off work in order to work with an interior decorator?

A: We work to be as accommodating to your schedule as possible. We meet with clients most often on Tuesdays and Thursdays during business hours but can make special arrangements when needed.

Q: How does Decorating Den Interiors work?

A: We offer a complimentary consultation on the first visit where we take a brief house tour and discuss your project(s) and priorities. After that initial consultation, you should have a very good idea of whether we are a good fit for you. We ask for a 10% retainer based on your budgeted project amount (which is rebated back to you the day we install everything). This simply guarantees our design time, as we generally do not charge “by the hour.” We bring you back designs within two weeks, offering you choices in style, fabric, colors, and space plan. A 60% deposit is required once your order is placed. We have all items come into our warehouse where we unpack and quality check everything. Once all of the items are in, it’s your “Special Day” and we install your design in a white glove fashion. The balance of the project is then due at installation. Very importantly, we communicate with you throughout the entire process!

Q: How can you offer free design services?

A: We are like any other retail establishment in that we buy at wholesale and sell at retail. This has been the Decorating Den business model for over 50 years.

Q: What happens at my first appointment?

A: We ask to take a brief house tour. This allows us to see your style (or discuss a change in style), colors, and discuss the function of the room(s). We also talk about any projects you may want to begin immediately, or in the future. We review how we work with you and answer any questions you have.

Q: How do I determine a budget for my project?

A: We have good, better, best and luxury brands, so we are able to meet most budgets. If you have a pre-determined budget in mind—great–we will discuss that with you. Likewise, if you would like us to offer a budget range we can complete the project within, we can provide that as well.

Q: Is there a minimum or maximum project size?

A: No. We do everything from one pillow to entire homes!

Q: Will you work with my existing pieces/furnishings that are in the room?

A: Absolutely! We are environmentally friendly and budget-conscious with decisions that are made. Also, sometimes your sentimental pieces are a springboard for a design!

Q: Do you shop with me in other stores?

A: No. We do not offer one-on-one shopping services. We bring everything to you in the comfort and convenience of your home or sometimes in our studio. Our over 150 manufacturers offer everything you could need or want for your home; saving you time and money.

Q: What’s the timeframe to get everything in?

A: We do wait until all of your items have arrived before scheduling your installation. Depending on the type of products, lead times can vary. Quick turn-around items can arrive as quickly as 4-6 weeks while other items may take 8-12 weeks. We give you progress updates throughout your project.

Q: Is it returnable?

A: Yes, but it is costly. That’s why we do not let our clients buy anything they do not love! If you should receive something that you are not satisfied with or changed your mind about, there is a 33 1/3% cost, plus shipping, pick-up charges; the credit balance can be used toward a future purchase(s). We stand behind all of our products for quality, workmanship, and satisfaction. Of course, any items with defections would not be delivered to you and all our products have standard furnishing industry warranties.

Q: Can I get a plan and shop retail?

A: No. Our 3D design plans use our specific suppliers; therefore, it is not designed for DIY. More importantly, our expertise and knowledge are what saves our clients time and money. We are professionals who will make sure you are getting a well-designed space that is technically correct and aesthetically to your taste. We will never compromise on the quality of our work.
