The kitchen needed a complete renovation while keeping the footprint. A white kitchen was desired in terms of cabinetry, countertops, and backsplash, by the wife. However, the husband was concerned there would be too much white and the look would be visually sterile. The table and chairs and chandelier were staying, therefore needed to be considered in the re-design. White cabinetry was indeed used as well as a Cararra looking quartz as the surface. Similar backsplash color in a small subway tile was also used. The visual “warmth” is seen in the flooring—a varied mid-toned wide plank wood, as well as the existing dark furniture and bronze chandelier. Stainless steel appliances, the existing light grey walls, and white and grey patterned window treatments complete the lightened look. The adjacent living room was also being redone in greys and whites with an accent of green. So, the carefully chosen art for the eating area of the kitchen has just a touch of green to tie the two rooms together.
