Project Overview:

A new home can be a bit overwhelming to furnish, but our client wanted to do it with meaning and style, starting with his living room. With medium grey walls and hardwood floors, we had a fairly open design opportunity. He wanted comfortable seating for family, liked the idea of a cocktail ottoman, neutral colors and blue, brass nail heads on furniture, and hints of Paris and New Orleans. A long room with multiple focal points is always a challenge, especially this narrow room with multiple angles and entrances. Furniture scale was especially important. A modern abstract patterned rug in blues, browns, and greys defined the space. A traditional seating style of a sofa and two chairs, plus a tufted ottoman was chosen. The sofa was a shorter width so an end table could be accommodated on the wall. The chairside table is open with a glass top, so the visual is not heavy. The two chairs are swivels allowing for conversation as well as enjoying the fireplace and television across the room. A table and floor lamp balance the lighting for the room. Another mirrored tripod accent table is placed by the 2nd swivel. A series of Parisian architecture adorns the sofa wall while sketches of gates, reminiscent of New Orleans is also in the room. More art and styled built-ins complete the masculine and polished look he desired.
