Multi-Room Basement Rec Space

Location: Prospect, KY

Project Overview:

This basement area has several rooms and functions. While a family room and game area existed, the clients wanted a more finished look plus a bar or kitchenette. While a bar and eating area was first discussed, the more long-term use was seen to be a kitchenette area with a sink, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher! A sit-down eating area was also desired. An adjacent sitting room also needed some help to make it a more usable room. We added a fun and functional kitchen area that featured all the conveniences for entertaining as well as potential future “in-law suite” use. The cabinetry is in marine blue. A gorgeous quartz countertop and floating shelves make the area unique. The clients desired a slightly rustic and retro vibe and the table, chairs, and upholstered bench in the colorful fabric reflects that. Vintage inspired lighting above the table as well as the adjacent bathroom assist. The family room seating includes performance fabric on the sofa and chairs. The chairs have metal frames to mirror the chrome look of cars, a passion of the client’s. Speaking of car themes, one of the first things people see when entering the basement is the large vintage car wallpaper mural, custom framed in silver, by the game table. The adjacent room got a new sofa sleeper and rug, plus fun art reflective of the client’s love of adventure and their dogs. Too much to mention in this basement with its many areas and fun color scheme. It truly is a complete home in and of itself!
