Family Room

Project Overview:

These clients wished to greatly update their dark wood family room to a lighter room with a transitional and organic look. A California-esqe vibe was my inspiration since that was originally home for one of them. A complete repainting of the dark stained trim was done, leaving the wood beams in their original tone to compliment the nearby kitchen wood. Light, light, light was achieved with new carpeting, neutral light upholstery, and of course light walls. Pops of fun color were put in the accessories and art. The fireplace façade was completely resurfaced (from creek rock) to a stone look tile (light colored of course!) and a traditional wood mantle was replaced with a custom granite one. New door shades in a natural woven material and a wood topped coffee table provide the organic touches.
